Dr. Antonis Alexopoulos holds a degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences from Semmelweis University in Budapest (2002) and a PhD in Sociology of Sport from the same university (2007). He also holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the Cruyff Institute Barcelona (2016) and is a Certified Personal Trainer (International Wellness Institute-IWI & National Coaching Institute Budapest). Upon his return to Cyprus he has worked in various positions in the sports industry, as a shareholder and personal trainer in a gym, as a director of a Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Centre and free-lance personal trainer and as a Communication Manager in obstacle running events, while he has also taught at the Departments of Physical Education and Sports Science and Sports Management of the University of Nicosia and the European University Cyprus. Since 2020 he is the Coordinator of the Sport Science and Physical Education Programme of the European University Cyprus, and the President of the Pancyprian Association of Physical Education and Sport Science Graduates (PASYPEFAA). His research interests have to do with the role of sport as a vehicle for social change, athlete well-being and gender issues in sport and Human Resource Management and Marketing in sport organisations. He is one of the co-founders of EDUFIT, which owns the rights to NASM, CETI, FMS, AFAA in Cyprus.
